my personal top 20 European kitchen brands

After many requests and lots of diliberations I’ve decided to post my own top 20 European brands. Top 20 European kitchen companies, because I simply felt that there are too many great European kitchen brands to limit the list to just top 10.

My Top 20 is based on the following criteria’s:

  • DESIGN – overall product design, esthetics and selection depth (colors, materials, design elements, etc.).
  • PRODUCT INNOVATION – is this a kitchen brand that takes risks, that is on the cutting edge of technology and innovates or just a company that copies others?
  • PRODUCT QUALITY – how well made is the product? Does the company ‘cuts corners’?
  • SERVICE – delivery on time, delivers complete orders, ‘after sale’ service, etc.

I have chosen not to take into consideration COMPANY SIZE, as there is no real direct benefit to the buyer and I’ve already listed the 10 largest European brands.

I also did not factor VALUE because I feel that value is very individual – what one consumer sees as a great value, another may view as cheap. Webster’s definition of Value is – “a fair return or equivalent in goods, services, or money for something exchanged”. Once a kitchen brand has top design, innovation, quality and service, the price will always be higher. Surprizingly, there are a few kitchen brands on this list that have a pretty good value, as well as ranking high on all the other categories.

In the Top 20 European Kitchen 11 Italian kitchen brands, 7 German kitchen companies, one English and one French are in the above list.

So, without further a due and in alphabetical order here are my Top 20 European kitchen Brands:

Honorable mentions: there were a few companies that did not make it to my Top 20 European Kitchen Brands, but deserve a mention. Also in the advise of one of the readers of this blog, i’ve decided to update this post and add a few more (they deserve it!). We’ll call this section the “hors catégorie” (thanks Pierangelo):

Clive Christian – ranked high on DESIGN and if  marketing was a category, will most definitely be included in the Top 20 list.

Marchi – ranked very high on DESIGN and INNOVATION.

Minotti – one of the best in creating the very unique, minimalist and clean look, that goes beyond a kitchen design. Not for everyone and is available only in selected few locations worldwide but Minotti is at the top of the DESIGN category.

LaCornue – though they are really more of an appliance company (ranges, cook tops, etc.) , they do offer cabinets and other elements that allow them to complete a kitchen. Very unique DESIGN, perhaps a trend setter in the high end appliance arena, with HIGH QUALITY products.

  2. Jean Marc

    Hi Kitchenguy,

I am on budget and went to Scavolini and Cesar for a bid
    I got similar pricing.
Based on quality which one should I go for?
    Thank you

    1. kitchenguy

Jean Marc – if all is similar, base your decision on the designer, the showroom, the reputaiotion of the dealer, etc.

    Hi kitchenguy,

    your blog is very useful.

I’ m thinking of buying a kitchen made from high pressure laminate (HPL). I’m between balerina, modulnova, bontempi and pedini (magika). Based on quality for HPL, is it possible to rate them?
    Thank you

    1. kitchenguy

Mel – HPL stands for High Pressure Laminate. Not sure what you’ve been looking at but Pedini’s Magika, is not HPL, but rather Thermostructured Laminate – a very different material. If you are comparing indeed HPL, in all 4 (not sure they all offer it), Modulnova and Pedini, are better than Balerina & Bontempi.

    Hi Kitchen Guy,
Pedini has a cheaper line called EKO. I would like to know if in terms of quality this line is still a better choice than to go with Leicht or any kitchen not in your top 20?
    Thank you

    1. kitchenguy

juraci – Many European brands (not just kitchens) offer a less expensive line. The Pedini Eko line is almost the same as the rest of the product line, but it is more limited, in terms of options. So if what you are looking for is within the Eko offerings – that’s a great buy!

  5. Tim

Hi kitchen guy, I’m in Mexico and I’ve been looking at European kitchens here. I looked at a very similar kitchen from 3 companies. They are as follow with price estimates. Valcucine ($190,000 USD) , Santos ($75,000USD) and Scavolini ($48,000 USD). Is there such a quality difference to justify such large price differences? Physically they all seem similar. I do notice quality differences but certainly not enough to justify the great differences in price. What’s your opinion on the price discrepancies? How would Pedini fall into these price ranges?

    1. kitchenguy

Tim – it is like looking at a Maserati, am Alfa Romeo and a Fiat – is there such a quality difference to justify such large price differences? Only you can answer that… 🙂
Pedini, price wise, is somewhere between Valcucine and Santos.
      kitchenguy

  6. Guillem

    Hi there

What is your opinion about express kuchen? Is it low, medium low, medium, medium high or high quality?
    And what about Nolte?

    Txs in advance

    1. kitchenguy

Guillem – Express Kuchen is Notlte’s lower end line. It is a low quality product…
      kitchenguy

      1. Guillem

Txs for the answer…what about Burger Kuchen Mobel is this also a low quality product?

        1. Guillem

How does burger kuchen mobel compare to Santos?

          1. kitchenguy

Guillem – Burger is the lower-end product from Bauformat Küchen (alreday a lower end product…)… – Santos will be my choice!
            kitchenguy

        2. kitchenguy

Guillem – Burger is the lower-end product from Bauformat Küchen (alreday a lower end product…)…

  7. Explorer

    Hi Kitchen Guy,

Can you please share your ranking of Scavolini, snaidero, arclinea, schiffini, modulnova kitchen brands in terms of quality?
Do you know the price range of schiffini’s One collection an do modulnova’s sp29 line?

    Thanks.

    1. kitchenguy

Explorer – snaidero, arclinea, schiffini, modulnova are similar. Scavolini is a step down.

  8. may

Hi, I’m after a good quality to price ratio product, yet a company that takes pride in product design and is aesthetically pleasing. I’m based in London and have seen Hacker. Great quality however was not so impressed with their ‘look’. I have a U shaped kitchen that is 3.5metres x 2.6metres large. Can you please help with these questions as to help shortlist some brands:

    a) German kitchens have a reputation about them, yet more Italian brands have made it to your top 20. Is buying German over Italian a better idea in terms of assurance in quality? Or are Italian kitchens as good (if not better)?

    b) Pedini is one of my options (as per reviewing your feedback). Cesar looks great but I’m concerned it might cost more. From a price/quality ration perspective, how do brands such as Comprex, Cesar, Toncelli, Stormer, Zeyko compare with Pedini?

    c) I’m assuming Baulthaup B1, Toncelli, Arclinea and Varenna all cost more than Pedini? Where does Binova fit in?

    1. kitchenguy

      May,
A lonnnnnng question and I’ll try to answer it the short way 🙂
      a) Today, you’re buying a European kitchen – a typical kitchen can be made in Germany, using Italian doors and panels, Austrian hardware and combination of German and Italian machinery puts it together – is it a German kitchen…?
      b) Cesar should not cost more than Pedini. Comprex, Cesar, Toncelli, Stormer, Zeyko and Pedini are all good.Personally, I’d go with Toncelli and Pedini, before the others.
      c) Higher.
      kitchenguy

      1. may

Thanks Kitchen Guy. Looks like Toncelli and Comprex have no London presence, which makes my choice easier 🙂 I’ll be visiting Pedini this weekend but unfortunately it seems there is only 1 store in London which could mean they might have their way with pricing. If you had to rank Cesar, Stormer and Zeyko, what order would you put them in? I’m guessing Zeyko would come first as it made it to your top 20.

          1. may

Thanks a million. I think I have a good shortlist to go with now.

          2. may

Hi kitchenguy. Quotes I’ve received so far are based on matte lacquer finish
            a) £15k Cesar kitchen (silk lacquer cloe with antaro steel drawer boxes).
            b) £13k pedini (dune & integra range).
            c) £14k Toncelli
            d) £7.5k bontempi & binova (I’ve been advised binova are at some kind of cross-rads. They have been taken over by miton cucine and have revamped their range in line with miton. Meaning they are about the same cost as bontempi and no longer what is classed as ‘high end’ manufacturer. I
            e) Stormer supplier here has expressed issues with stormer being able to deliver to spec. Supplier recommended schuller as they haven’t had any issue with them. However schuller and hacker cabinet doors have a round finish/look, which unfortunately I do not prefer. Stormer has a flatter finish.

Q1 – is it true whats happening with binova?
Q2 – is pedini worth double the price over bontempi? Pedini magica has recessed handles (not pure handless) so had to consider integra & dune range.
Q3 – I’m leaning towards bontempi or binova (miton cucine) due to price. Where does comprex and aster cucine fit in between these 2?

            Thanks again

          3. kitchenguy

            may:
            Q1 – yes.
            Q2 – yes.
Q3 – both will be arround the same as the fisrt 3.
            kitchenguy

          4. may

Thanks again. I do like the retailer that caters for binova (miton) and bontempi.

            1. If I had to pick 1 from this retailer, should I go with binova/miton or bontempi?

            2. Given the miton take over of binova, how do I know if I am getting a kitchen a ‘binova’ kitchen and not a miton? As i understand, miton is of much lower quality. Is there anything that now distinguishes a binova kitchen from a miton kitchen? For example carcass maybe thicker? Or has the quality of binova now in line with miton quality?

          5. kitchenguy

may – go with the Binova line. Eventhough it is now Miton, it is still better than Bontempi.
            kitchenguy

  9. Sabrina

What would you recommend in terms of durability, quality and looks between:
INDada Kitchen, Varena Matrix, and Stosa Allegra.
Stosa has suggested a thermofoil finish and the other two a goffrato finish. Is thermofoil hardwearing, would you recommend it?

    1. kitchenguy

Sabrina – on all 3 categories: Dada on top, varena next and Stosa last, by far… Thermofoil is not a great finish – it is vynil…
      kitchenguy

      1. Sabrina

        Thank you kitchen guy,
One last question. How would you compare Dada to Pedinni. The Pedinni kitchen is cheaper but I want to know the difference in quality.
        Thanks!

        1. kitchenguy

Sabrina – the spec’s are pretty much the same, in some aspects Pedini is even better, but Dada has a bigger name and are connected with Armani, which obviously warranted a higher price…
          kitchenguy

  10. Ricky

    Hi Kitchen guy

Which brand would you recommend if our house is French style?

    1. kitchenguy

Ricky – I need more info… French Style in what way? Where are you located?
      kitchenguy

    2. Ricky

I’m from Melbourne Australia. The house outlook design is French style. Inside is quite classical.

      1. kitchenguy

Ricky – not sure who’s in Autralia… – are there any French brands? Go through the list on the right of the home page, under French Kitchens.

  11. may

hi kitchen guy. A pedini retailer here also supplies bontempi kitchens. Unfortunately it will be another 2 months before they will have it in their showroom. I believe they are cheaper than Pedini. What are your thoughts on Bontempi? Thanks

    1. kitchenguy

May – Bontempi is a couple of steps down from Pedini – not worth the savings…
      kitchenguy

  12. Sparsh Kothari

    Hi kitchen guy!
I am from India and i am soon too open a 20000 square feet showroom just for tiles, wooden floorings, sanitary, furniture and kitchens. Everything is done but have not finalised the kitchen company to keep. If you can please help me out with which companies are easy to sell and have both the premium as well as less expensive range. Further for your information i want you to know that i want a company which is better than nolte, hacker and gronje as they are already existing in my city and i don’t want to keep the same. Thanks.

    1. kitchenguy

Sparsh Kothari – where are you located, in India?
      kitchenguy

  13. Rishabh Dhawan

    Hello kitchen guy
I see that nobility is not in your list of best 20 kitchens…. Is it not worth to invest in nobility?

    1. kitchenguy

Rishabh Dhawan – never heard of it…
      kitchenguy

  14. mansing

    Kitchenguy,

    Currently lost among three options:

ernestomeda elektra – display kitchen – gagg appliances (nice!), glossy lacquer (not crazy about gloss), steel and corian worktop – around $50K USD

modulnova – also display – nice raw wood finish, stainless steel top, subzero, wolf oven, european cooktop – around 50K also

Arclinea Italia – custom spec – laminate finish (which I am okay with) to keep price down, still working on the worktop specs – will have to mix bosch ovens, thermador columns and maybe bertazzoni cooktop to get to about a 60K price point.

In summary I love the Italia handle and the custom spec Arclinea will fit my space better. There should be no compromises in usability because everything will be where I want it, but I do have to sacrifice finishes and lesser appliances to keep price competitive with the display deals, and the price will still be higher by at least 10K. The displays may offer better finishes and more expensive appliances at a great price, but there may be compromises in appliance placement and overall fitment into my space. They WILL fit my space, just not as nicely as the Arclinea, and I wonder if I’ll just get used to ergonomic shortcomings of the display kitchens. For example the sinks are a little small for my taste on the displays, and on the ernestomeda the cooktop and sink are right next to each other on the island – I always envisioned my main prep space to be between sink and cooktop on the island rather than on the ends of the island since the cooktop and sink occupy the center.

Anyway now I’m babbling, any insights for me? Thanks.

    1. kitchenguy

mansing – you’re comparing apples and oranges and I think there are better options out there, that will give you exactly what you want, for the right price… Where are you located?
      kitchenguy

      1. Mansing

Hey kitchen guy, I’m in chicago

  15. Sparh Kothari

I live in the state of Punjab and the city i live in is LudhiaNA. Basically North India.

    1. kitchenguy

Sparh Kothari – ok, I’m not familiar with thsi area and who is alreday there or not – you’ll need to do the research.

  16. Rudi Karlas

We are currently looking for a new kitchen to be installed in our house. We have received offers from a Bulthaup and a Haecker dealer for the same kitchen layout with identical devices. Bulthaup B3, Haecker Systemat. Both fully lacquered. Both brands use Grass Nova Pro drawers. Yet the Bulthaup ones seem to be more rigid. Do you know more about whether differences exist between the drawers used, or whether it may come to down to how the kitchen drawers are installed.

The Bulthaup kitchen, costs about 30% more than the Haecker one. I realise that one pays for a brand name, but are the technical differences, durability etc. which justify the higher price for a Bulthaup kitchen ? I have been unable to find technical comparisons between kitchens.

  17. Shoebee

    Hello!
May I know how you would rank the following Varenna, Eggesmann, Boffi by (i) cost; (ii) durability. My favorite style is Varenna but I am curious if there are large variations in quality and durability across the 3 brands? Thanks!

    1. kitchenguy

Shoebee – all 3 are durable just the same. Regarding cost – it depends on the local dealer’s mark-up…
      kitchenguy

  18. Sparsh Kothari

Please rate the following companies with retail purpose in mind-
Modulnova, Varenna, Snaidero, Valcucina, Toncelli, Brummel, Nobilia, Arc linea.

    Regards,
    Sparsh

    1. kitchenguy

Sparsh – these brands are not even the same type of product – modern vs. traditionsl, very high-end vs. low -end – is this a joke…?
      kitchenguy

  19. Ahmad

    Hello Kitchen guy,

i wonder how would you compare Lube, Stosa, Bauformat and Nolte in terms of Quality, manufacturing capabilities(Size), and variety of price ranges?
Your effort is highly valuable, and i thank you in advance for it!
    All Best,

    1. kitchenguy

Ahmed – all 4 are lower-end, price driven products, from very large companies and so are very similar.
      kitchenguy

  20. Sam

    Hello Kitchenguy,

I’m about to open a design center in Seattle WA, which brand would you recommend me to sell?

    1. kitchenguy

Sam – need a lot more info – what is your target market? Price point? What other products are you going to have there?
      Etc.
      kitchenguy

  21. Naj

    Hi KitchenGuy,
Many thanks for this very useful resource. We are planning to renovate our kitchen and I know SieMatic is within out price range. WOuld you be able to suggest 2 other options that are similar price wise (can be slightly more expensive)? We are looking for something that is modern looking.
    Many thanks
    (from Geneva)

    1. kitchenguy

Naj – try Bulthaup, there’s a dealer in Lausanne or Pedini, there’s one in Morges
Good luck and please keep us posted,
      kitchenguy

      1. Naj

Many thanks for the quick answer. I very much like the Pedini one and will check it out probably this weekend and let you know how it goes. A bit less on Bulthaup.
What about Varenna? How does it compare to Pedini and Siematic price and quality wise?

        1. kitchenguy

Naj – Poggenpohl is good too. I like Pedini better.
          kitchenguy

  22. Sparsh Kothari

How do you rate Nobilia as a company?

    1. kitchenguy

Sparsh Kothari – Nobilia is one of the largest kitchen companies in the world. Good product for a good value.
      kitchenguy

  23. This design is spectacular! You definitely know how to keep a reader amused.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well,
almost…HaHa!) Great job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
    Too cool!

  24. DKP

    Hi, Kitchenguy,

I gone through your blog, find well recommendations / Information, I would like to know what is your opinion about ARAN CUCINE, an Italian brand, some one suggested us for our home.

    1. kitchenguy

DKP – Aran is a good company on of the largest exporters, out of Italy. They are however more of a value product.
      kitchenguy

  25. Shakuntala chockalingam

I live in Toronto,Canada and planning on doing a new kitchen, I am looking into Scavolini, Leicht and Rational. What will be your recommendation? The sales person at Scavolini is very thorough and helpful. I am reading a lot about pedini from your blog. I will check out its availability in our area.
    Thank you

    1. kitchenguy

Shakuntala chockalingam – between these 4 brands, I’d go with Pedini, hands down!
      kitchenguy

      1. Shakuntala chockalingam

Thank you. I did find a dealer in Toronto, that I am going to check out. If that does not work out , what will be your order of preference. I am so happy I came across your blog.

        1. kitchenguy

Shakuntala chockalingam – from the other 3, I’d say that Leicht and Rational are about equal and Scavolini is last.
          Good luck!
          kitchenguy

  26. Shakuntala chockalingam

    Hello kitchen guy again
I came across Bulthaup dealer in Toronto. They came across expensive compared to the other three I mentioned. I did not price them yet. The sales person mentioned they had three lines with different price points. You mentioned Scavolini being a step down. Is the material of the cabinets inferior? Now I have 4 lines to look at, pedini,Scavolini ,Leicht and Bulthaup looking at your blog. Can you please rank them and price value.
    Thank you.

    1. kitchenguy

Shakuntala chockalingam – Bulthaup and Pedini, then laicht and last Scavolini. In term of price, it varies from one market to another, based on the dealer’s price policy, but Bulthaup will be the highest price. Their b1 model is really just one door and extremely limited. Pedini has the Eko model that is similar.
      Good luck!
      kitchenguy

  27. Lucie

    hi Kitchenguy and everybody.

Could you help me ? I live in France.

at this moment, i have to choose between 2 brands of kitchen : one from france : PYRAM, (the model is aquila ) and the other one from Italia : Cucinesse (the model “mika smart”… the price for Pyram is 14 000 €, and the other one from Cucinesse 10 000 €, for the same implantation.

I do not know the brand Cucinesse, and have a doubt about the quality of that . is it like ikea ? the seller told me is the best one from Italia… I have a doubt about his sincerity… Above all, i have found this brand on the website of CONFORAMA luxembourg…

I am impatiente to receive your reply.

    thanks in advance.

    Lucie

    1. kitchenguy

Lucie – they are both about the same, in terms of quality. Cucinesse is far from being “the best from Italy” so based on this statement alone, I’d stay away from this seller… 🙂
      kitchenguy

  28. ana

Hi there kitchenguy. I would like to buy a new kitchen which would be my first and also my last 😉 I am a picky person and all I care about is quality! So, I dont care about the money but quality and durably. Been thinking about Bulthaup, Boffi, Dada and maybe Varenna. I would need just few pieces not a huge kitchen. So, based on quality, durability how wound you rate these? Feel free to add other if needed. Location-wise I have an easy access to any of these. To have a clearer idea of your list you can give me a “car base” comparison. Thank you! 🙂

    1. kitchenguy

Ana – you have them in the right order: Bulthaup, Boffi, Dada and Varenna.
      kitchenguy

      1. ana

        lol Thanks. 🙂

Are there notable differences between them? (of course quality/durability wise)

  29. zak k

Hi kitchenguy im looking at the german made Next 125 kitchens from the Schuller kitchen company and Beckermann kitchens. Whats your opinion about them and How would you rate them.
    Thank you Zak

    1. kitchenguy

      zak k – I like Schuller better.
      kitchenguy

      1. zak k

thank you Kitchenguy. i like them better too. Regarding quality. are the Schuller kitchen very well done or do they just look good?

          1. zak k

            thank you!

  30. vim

Hiya Mr. kitchen Guy I am looking to open up a small studio kitchen company in London and already have an established bathroom showroom. please could you advise of brands to cater for the mid to higher end and one for the hid to lower end. I was hoping to find companies which a not already saturated in the London area.

    1. kitchenguy

vim – London is flooded with kitchen shops and though many of the brands may still be open to an additional dealer (depending on location, their satisfaction from the existing resellers, etc.), this is something that needs a research and that takes lots of time… My recommendation is to contact all the ones you like and see if they are open to you selling their product.
      kitchenguy

  31. vim

thank you one last question which manufacturer(s) in your opinion is good for mid to high end with a good variety of modern and classic kitchen.

    1. kitchenguy

vim – none… No mid to high end brand offers has a good variety of modern and classic kitchens – they offer one or the other…

Hi, have you had any experience of Team 7 kitchens? If so, could you share your thoughts on quality, etc? Thanks

    1. kitchenguy

      Irene,
Personally – no, I did not.

  33. luigi

    Hi.
kitchen guy, which in your opinion is a better kitchen quality wise poggenpohi,,schuller semantic,
and would the poggenpohi entry range be of good quality (segment)
    kind regards

    1. kitchenguy

luigi – they are all great and all have different grades of products – it is not a simple answer and you really need to compare ‘apples to apples’.
      kitchenguy

    2. Paul

Hi luigi, schuller are a low to mid end product at best and the quality reflects this, poggeenpohl and sematic on the other hand are much better quality but personally if it was my money i would buy Sematic.

  34. Effie

Hi!…I am surprised that u didnt list leicht as one of your top 20 kitchens. Why is that?

    1. kitchenguy

Effie – very simple, they are not good enough to make it to My Top 20 list…
      kitchenguy

  35. Dyan

    Hi, Kitchenguy.

I want to know how do Berloni and Leicht fare as brands (design and quality)? Are they low, mid or high-end? Which one is better? Among the European brands I know, I’ve only seen Bulthaup, SieMatic, Poggenpohl and Haecker on your list.

    Your post is very helpful.

    Thank you.

    1. kitchenguy

Dyan – Berloni went bankrupt, a couple of years ago and if it wasn;t for their largest customer, a company with a chain of stores in Asia, who bought the company and re-started it, they wouldn’t exist today. Unfortunately, the owners are now producing the Berloni product, with the Asian market in mind and so it is less attractive to the rest of the the world, than it was prior to their shutting down. I will consider it to be low-to-mid quality.
Leicht is a fine product – much better than Berloni. I will consider it to be mid-to-high quality.
Bulthaup, SieMatic, Poggenpohl and Haecker are better than the two above.
      kitchenguy

      1. Dyan

        Thanks so much!

  36. Jacob

    Hi kitchenguy,

If you narrow down the list to your top 10, which brands would be included? 🙂

    1. kitchenguy

Jacob – this is not a simple as a short answer… maybe one day soon.
      kitchenguy

      1. Jacob

        Hi kitchenguy,

I see! By the way, do you have any info or know any famous blogs on kitchen appliances as well? Choosing a kitchen brand is already tough enough with so many choices, but finding matching kitchen appliances (ovens, range, ref, hood, etc) is even tougher. 🙂

  37. Explorer

Any idea about quality of Copat Life, Arrital and Cesar Italian cabinets? Due to my budget, I cannot go with veneer and high gloss lacquer. Any opinion on the these alternatives – laminate and high gloss thermafoil or high gloss laminate?

    1. kitchenguy

Explorer – Copat will be my choice.
      HG laminate.
      kitchenguy

      1. Explorer

Thanks for your recommendation. Can you elaborate some more on the reasons of your preference of Copat life as opposed to Arrital or Cesar? How does Copat life stack up with Modulnova please?

        1. kitchenguy

Explorer – just better quality/design/service overall. Modulnova is better than Arrital and Cesar as well.
          kitchenguy

          1. dguy

Copat Cucine was bought by Arrital Cucine this year, and they changed the name to Copat Life… Arrital cucine is part of Doimo Group…

  38. Veronica

    Hi Kitchenguy,

First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to help us all with your deep knowledge. My husband and I are considering to open a showroom of italian kitchen manufacturer “Cesar”, so far we love the products, finishes, etc. We’ve visited the factory a couple months ago and we think it’s a nice option. Looking for a review of this brand I found your website, I came across a couple of questions of other people about them, however not much information was provided. Our main competitors from what we have seen in our area (Mexico) are: Boffi, Arclinea, Comprex, Miton and Pohguenpol (sorry if any misspelled). I’m kind of lost because I dont know if all of them belong to the same range (quality, design, price, etc.), in other words, I would like to know:

    I) If I had to compare these brands to Cesar: Would I be comparing apples to apples? Do you think the price range should be in the same level?
II) From 0-10, considering what you think makes a good product (overall), how would you rate Cesar?
III) Last but not least, what do you think this brand has to improve to be considered among your top 20?

    Thanks in advance, best regards!!!

    1. kitchenguy

Veronica – I’ll try to give you the short answer, to a very long question… 🙂 After all, I do it voluntarily…
Cesar is a fine product. The downside is that the company has been a bit unstable in recent years and even got to the point when they stopped shipping for a couple of weeks, about a year ago.
Boffi, Arclinea and Poggenpohl are better quality, design and a bigger brand. Comprex is similar and Miton is lower quality.
      kitchenguy

      1. Veronica

        Hi Kitchenguy,

I really do thank you for your answer, now I think I understand a little better, from what you said before Boffi, Arclinea and Poggenpohl are better quality, design and bigger brand than Cesar, lets say “regardless” of the bigger brand statement, would you consider they are much better than Cesar as a product itself? Could we offer Cesar as a true alternative to them? Since I see you are very knowledgeable on this, your opinion really matter to us.

I also see you mention Pedini a lot, would you say Pedini is better than Cesar? If so, is it much better? They are also in our Area and from what I read on your blog I think they are a true competitor for us, so I would like to know if in your opinion we can actually compete with them in terms of product itself.

Thank you very much for all your help. Best regards.

        1. kitchenguy

Veronica – yes, they are all better. You can offer Cesar as an alternative but you will start at a real handicap, so you’ll have an up-hill battle all the way…
          kitchenguy

  39. Christine

Hi- we are looking at the Poliform alea line in a melamine finish. Do you think this is a good and durable product? Thanks for your insight.

  40. LAITH MARAQA

    Dear kitchen guy,
my company is located in amman jordan specializing in bathrooms and tiles, been researching to expand have talked to few company (alno were very unproffesioonal) , ) Lecht , pedini , jordan market is more to the mid- high price matters in competiton, most brands are open (no dealers) , which one do you recommend not necessarily from the names above main cheap imported brands are euromobil, and berloni, thanks for your help

    Laith Maraqa

    1. kitchenguy

LAITH MARAQA – sorry, but this is not a simple answer, but rather a market research and study that needs to be done…
      kitchenguy

  41. Mack

Very nice write-up. I certainly love this website.
    Keep writing!

  42. Rahil Majid

I am building a house in Cape Town, I would like to visit some showrooms in Europe, can you tell me where is better to go, Germany or Italy, i like Poggenpohl Kitchens as well as Bulthaup and Boffi from Italy, will they see me in Europe even if they have some reps in my home country?

    1. kitchenguy

Rahil Majid – more likely to see the German brands in Germany and the Italian in Italy. To see both in one city, go to London or Paris. I’m sure they’ll be happy to sell you cabinets, but then you’re on your own, in terms of measuring, shipping and installation, not to mention service, in case you need it (and you will!).
      kitchenguy

  43. claw24

    Kitchenguy,
As somebody that has trained as a bespoke cabinet maker and
having the pleasure of selling high end german kitchens for the past 10 years I find your recommendations and top 20 rather strange.
Having owned a Boffi kitchen and now owning a bulthaup one there is no comparison.
The total bespoke engineering, craftsmanship and design of the bulthaup is far superior in every way, and second to none.
Having also looked at stocking Leicht and Poggenpohl I can’t understand how you rate Leicht as a less premium product than Hacker( in Germany this is a direct rival for Wellmann, the next level down in the Alno group line)
I was invited to a good freinds showroom the other day to view the Next 125 range by Schuller, once again better than Poggenpohl but again omitted from your list.
True pendini make some lovely curved kitchens, but as everybody in the trade knows CURVED DOORS DEFORM
All german and Italian kitchen company’s use the same generic parts from the same few suppliers(apart from bulthaup)
The Valcucine logica kitchen although stunning uses the same behind workspace storage system as Leicht
Poggenpohl use the same handles as Wellmann and so on.
But when it comes down to the quality and design combined I believe you are giving biased and unfounded advise.
It is always good to get the opinion of professionals when purchasing something so important and expensive, but this advice should be based on fact and not personnel choices.
    PS….
If I had to offer a top 30 it certainly would NOT include Hacker and that is based on build quality design and innovation
    Claw24

    1. kitchenguy

Claw24 – thanks for the very long comment. Though I respect opinions that are not like mine, you are wrong on just about every statement you made. Not opinion-wrong, but factual-wrong…
Perhaps selling German kitchens for 10 years (I’m guessing Bulthaup…) got you thinking that your personal opinions, as wrong as they are, are facts…

  44. eczmd

Thanks for all your hard work on this website.I am writing you from the U.S. We like modern kitchens and would love your opinion on italian cabinets with a budget at $40k-$50k . Can you educate me on italian brands that could fall in that range and things to consider , shipping , suppliers, etc.? Thanks in advance.

    1. kitchenguy

eczmd – where are you located, in the US? How big is the kitchen?
      kitchenguy

  45. eczmd

We are located in Pennsylvania near Philadelphia. Your expertise and the advice posted on this website has been very helpful. We appreciate it. We are focusing on Pedini, Snaidero and Seimatic as they have interior designers companies in this region who offer it but open to other suggestion. We have no idea about price ranges with these brands. We like modern, our kitchen configuration of cabinets is an L shaped layout 11 ft x 12 ft with a wedge shaped kitchen island 5 ft x 6 ft. If you have any options on how to purchase/suppliers , things to consider , we would appreciate it. Thanks again

  46. Eric Zabat

I am not sure if by other post went through so please excuse me if this is a duplicate. We are located in the Northeast , near Philadelphia. We are focusing on Pedini, Snaedero, Siematic based on reading this website with price being a deciding factor. We are learning that those interior deisgner showroom locales are close enough. The kitchen is L shaped 11ft x 12ft with a kitchen island of 5 ft x 6 ft. We have no idea about price ranges and value your expertise on price ranges and oopen to other brand options, suppliers. Thanks again.

    1. kitchenguy

Eric Zabat – it is impossible for me to quote a price… Please visit these retailers around youand have them price for you the kitchen design/model you like. Make sure you’re pricing ‘apples vs. apples’.
      kitchenguy

  47. Gary

We have narrowed down between Balthaup B1, Modulnova, Varrena by Poliform and Haecker and would appreciate your thoughts on best option between these? Also, what do you think of the resin cement/slate finishes that Modulnova and now Haecker do…will they survive the wear and tear of daily use with kids around?
    Thanks!

    1. kitchenguy

Gary – they are all good. Especially if you’re going with the cement/slate finish, that I see no problem with, my personal preference would be (in this order): Bulthaup B1, Haecker, Modulnova, Varrena by Poliform.
      kitchenguy

  48. Jakub

Kitchenguy, we have a small dispute with my wife about kitchen we want. The choice is between Binova Pura and Varenna Artex. The price we have is similar so I would like to ask which would you go for from the point o view of quality ? Thanks

    1. kitchenguy

Jakub – Binova used to be considered better, but after they went bankrupt and Miton took over, I would say they are about equal.
      kitchenguy

  49. dguy

Where would you rank Euromobil Cucine? And can you compare Aster Cucine with Pedini Cucine?

    1. kitchenguy

dguy – Euromobil is a very nice product, similar to Pedini. I prefer both over Aster.
      kitchenguy

  50. This site was… how do you say it? Relevant!! Finally
I’ve found something that helped me. Thank you!
