Europeans have been producing kitchens, in factories (vs. carpenter’s shops) for about 100 years now.

The countries that have the largest amount of kitchen brands are: Italy and Germany. They probably produce about 90% of the kitchens sold in Europe. They also are the largest exporters of kitchens outside of Europe.

You will also find some large kitchen factories in England, France, Denmark, Sweden, Spain and other European countries.

On the right side of the page are the European kitchen companies, by country. If you know a kitchen company, that is not listed, please contact us and will gladly add it.

    Hi kitchenguy,
We live in Miami and are deciding between Biefbi and Record cucineItalian cabinets for our new kitchen. How are they compared in terms of quality, durability and quality to price ratio? Thanks in advance for your expert advice.

    1. kitchenguy

      Hi Loli,
These two products are very similar – they are both a ‘price driven product’, which means that they are more focused on price, than on design or high quality.
      Good luck,
      kitchenguy

      1. Loli

        Thank you so much!!!

        1. Paul

          Hi KitchenGuy,

Biefbi and Record the same ? come on ! Record is focused on price but Biefbi not, is mucch better in design and quality !

          1. kitchenguy

            Paul,
I think it is all relative – comparing them both to the Top brands, they are both ‘price driven’. If you feel that one is less than the other, I’ll accept your claim.

I am in the process of buying a new kitchen, I live in a retirement area and the homes are not the most expensive but i want a european look I used to be a kitchen designer and I like the astra wood veneer line the pedini and seimatic, poggenpphol were too expensive for my budget. you put in yur blog that you didnt like the astra can you tell me why and what you might reccomend I would be ever so grateful! 310-422-XXXX

        1. kitchenguy

Marjorie – Astra is a ‘price driven’ product. In order to loer price, they cut corners and the product is simply cheap…
Pedini and SieMatic are both fine choices!
          Good luck,
          kitchenguy

  2. nancy

    hi kitchenguy –
we are deciding between Astra italian cabinetry and Leicht german cabinetry. In the Astra we can get real wood veneer, in the Leicht we’d have to get wood laminate. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your reply.

    1. kitchenguy

Nancy – I’m afraid to say it, but in my opinion, there must be better choices…
If you tell me where you are located, I’ll try and locate for you a better quality/value than these two.

Looking for a good kitchen company in miami that is well priced. Thinking of using Greenworks cabintry because they are green. I am also interested in some Italian brands but they seem to vary a lot in price and quality.

Please email me back your suggestions.

    1. kitchenguy

      Hi Sienna,
An Italian brand (one of my Top 20 list), that has a fantastic ‘quality to price ratio’ and… is very green!.
For the Miami, FL. dealer, visit their web site
      Good luck!

    hello kitchenguy,

What do you think about the Spanish kitchen? I have visit the website of Mobalco and it looks great, what’s your comments aobut it? thank you in advance!

    1. kitchenguy

      Hi Joy,
The Spanish kitchens are mostly following the Italian design but seam to be mostly a step lower in quality, as they cater to a lower end, lesser expensive markets.
Mobalco seem to be one of the exceptions, in that they are using more unique materials and are presenting a couple of different designs.
      Kitchenguy

      1. Joy

Thank you so much for your information, Kitchenguy.
It seems that there are only Italy and German brand is the top in the market. But I really want to find something special, reasonable price with unique quality, do you have any recommendation?

        1. kitchenguy

          Joy – I can try… 🙂
          First, where are you located?
Second, there are some Italian and German brands that are more reasonably priced than the others – which brands have you looked at and which ones you liked so far?
          Thanks,
          kitchenguy

  5. Joy

    Hi Kitchenguy,

I am in Hong Kong and most of the top brand of German and italy have their agent here but I would like to prefer some speical as mentioned beofore. How do you think SCIC or Biefbi or Linear Quattro or something with good design and quality but reasonable price, any idea from you?

    Thanks a lot.

    Joy

    1. kitchenguy

Joy – these 3 brands are not “something special”, like you requested, but if you’re okay with ‘middle of the line’ product, without special ‘bells and whistles’ than I guess these would do. I would probably go with SCIC, over Linea Quattro and Biefbi.
      Good luck,
      kitchenguy

      1. joy

        Thanks for your reply, Kitchenguy.

Would you have any recommendation of the Brand (German or Italy) except the top 20 you listed?

        Cheers,

        Joy

        1. kitchenguy

Joy – on the contrary – my recommendation will be to visit the ones from the Top 20 List and see which one you can afford. they will be a much better value than to save a little, but lowering the quality…
Try Toncelli, Snaidero, Poggenpohl, Pedini and Häcker – they are you best bet on getting a lower price/high quality product.
          Good luck,
          kitchenguy

          1. Joy

            thanks!

I’m purchasing a home with Astra kicthen cabinets and would like to make a matching addition. I’ve had trouble finding a retailer in the Miami area. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    1. kitchenguy

      Nicholas,
They used to have a dealer down in Miami but I think they may be out of business…
Your best bet is to contact Astra Italy – see link on the right of this blog – they’ll direct you.
      Good luck,

    HI Kitchen Guy,

Thought I had nailed my kitchen choice down to either Dada or Bulthup, thanks to your help, but having read such positive things about Haeker kitchens on your website I went to one of their showrooms and lo and behold I really like their kitchens.

The thing is … am I comparing Apples with Apples here ? If the quality is less than Dada or Bulthup, what should I be looking at to compare, is it the hinges, the handles. They all look fabulous in the showrooms and pretty similar look.

Thanks again for all your help.

    Caroline

    1. kitchenguy

      Dear Caroline,
Yes – they are very similar in quality. The big difference is that Haecker is a much bigger company and so they must stick to standards – if you like what they have – go for it!
      Good luck,
      kitchenguy

    Hey Kitchen Guy,
I am from India.I like to thank you for this great blog. There are several Europen kitchen brands now available in India one of them is .elmar What is your take on their quality and design. Also the cooking habits and climatic conditions are very different in India in comparison to Europen do you think Class E1 chipbaord can with stand this. Also we have termite problem here in India can this chipboard withstand this.Looking forward to your reply.

    Thanks

    1. kitchenguy

Nihal – thanks for the kind words.
Elmar is a nice line – good quality and basic, but good design.
The E1 should be just fine with the climate conditions. Some of the manufacturers claim to be Termite Resistant, but you should check with them.
      Good luck!

  10. Martha

    Hi kitchenguy,

I am in Monterrey,N.L., Mexico. I am in the process of choosing a new kitchen and am torn between Santos and Scavolini. I know you think Santos is a better value, but is it a better quality??????

    1. kitchenguy

      Hi Martha,
In my opinion it is at least as good as Scavolini and so if it is priced better, it is an easy decision…
      Good luck,
      kitchenguy

      1. Martha

        Hi Kitchen guy.
I know that if I pick the Santos kitchen over the Mood Scavolini kitchen I am basically getting the same thing for much less money in terms of quality. But what do you think about the Scenery Scavolini kitchen with the laquer finish? Do you think it´s worth paying twice the money for it?????

        1. kitchenguy

          Hi,
You’ve asked for my opinion and so I say – No, I don’t.
          Good luck,

I do believe all the concepts you have introduced to your post. They are really convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are too short for novices. May you please extend them a little from next time? Thanks for the post.

  14. Caroline

    Hi Kitchen Guy,

Marching slowly and getting closer to being a new Hacker customer, they can thank you for their next potential new customer ! I had never heard of them before coming to ask you a few questions about Bulthup and here I am, pretty close to signing the deal!

Before I do, I have a question for you .. If I do go with Haecker, my choice would be the EmotionArt range and I fell in love with the Design Glass doors (EM5095). The doors have a glass satin finish to them, would I be MAD to install something like that in a kitchen, this kitchen will have to last me a lifetime !!

Also, the three quotes have come in pretty much similar.

Bulthup (combination of B1 and B3 units to give me the flexibility I need for my choice of applicances)
    Dada – Hi Line
    Hacker – EmotionArt.

Archtiect says if all costs are the similar, I should definitely go with Bulthup. I am so torn !!!!

Regarding applicance, have been looking at both Gaggeneau and Miele, do you have any opinions on either of those.

Thank you so VERY much for you wise input.

    1. kitchenguy

      Hi there,
      Glad I can help.
Architects, for some strange reason are so in love with Bulthaup and though it is a great product, I really feel that it is not better than the other 2 especially, that you are mixing the B1 in there (their entry level line).
Regarding the glass – I feel that it is a very practical material – easy to clean and will not show wear and tear over the years.
Go for what you like. After all the architect is not moving in with you… – is he…? 🙂
      kitchenguy

      1. Caroline

haha, We would both run for opposite hills at the very thought of it !!!

thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

Do you have any opinion on the appliances, Gaggeneau v Miele ?

        1. kitchenguy

          Caroline,
Both are great brands, at the top of the ‘food chain’.
          Good luck,
          kitchenguy

    Hi!

I’m in the process of remodeling. I have a lot of choices but do not know on which to decide. I’m inbetween allmilmo, boffi, snaidero, poggenpohl, scavolini, and poliform. I’m looking for best design, service an quality. Please help! Thank you

    1. kitchenguy

Alex – this is a tough one, because of the different categories…
In terms of design – Boffi, Snaidero, Poggenpohl, Allmilmo, Poliform and Scavolini.
Service really dipends not just on the brand, but also the local dealer.
Quality wise – Boffi, Snaidero, Allmilmo, Poggenpohl, Poliform and Scavolini, and
      Good luck,

Hi which one should I choose between Schiffini and Leitch? Whats your opinion? I am looking for design, quality and service.

    1. kitchenguy

Hi Alis – I’m assuming it is Leicht. If it is – Schiffini is my choice – better all around.
      Good luck!

  19. Heather

What is your opinion of AR-DUE arrex solid teak? Quality???

    1. kitchenguy

Heather – I’m not familiar with any solid teak kitchens…
They offer solid cherry, walnut and perhaps the oak and chestnut are also solid (doors, not carcase) but I haven’t run across solid teak yet.
The quality is decent, though I find these traditional kitchens a bit limited in design possibilities.
Please advise on where you saw this product.
      Thanks,
      kitchenguy

      1. Heather

Thanks, Kitchen Guy. Someone is selling them used and I thought it was weird that the seller said they were solid teak, but I was unable to find solid teak on the company’s website.

Do you prefer Snaidero over Ar-due? Which one is better quality.

        Thanks,

        Heather

        1. kitchenguy

          Heather – Snaidero, hands down!
          Good luck,
          kitchenguy

  20. Heather

I just wanted to let you know that we went with the Snaidero. If anyone in Chicago is looking for Snaidero, there is a sample sale going on now. FYI

  21. Srini

My wife is very interested in closing a deal for a Hacker kitchen. We are going for the classic range of cabinets. I have deal from Nolte for 25% lesser. What would you recommend. We are based in India and kitchens are much more expensive here.

    1. kitchenguy

Srini – if it is only 25% cheaper, it’s an easy one – Hacker is at least twice as good… 🙂
      Good luck,
      kitchenguy

  22. MM

    Hi,

I was wondering how you would rank Scavolini, Snaidero, Arclinea and Poggenpuhl in terms of quality and price.

It seems that you prefer Snaidero over Scavolini-is this true and why?

do you know anything about Bertozzoni appliances as far as quality goes?

    1. kitchenguy

      Hi MM,
Arclinea and Snaidero on top, than Poggenpohl and Scavolini last.
Snaidero is a high-end/high-line product when Scavolini is a lower end, ‘price driven’ product. There simply no comparison… It’s like comparing a Maserati to a Fiat…
Bertozzoni is a nice range – it all depends what you’re comparing it to…
      Good luck,
      kitchenguy

  23. MM

Thanks so much for the info, it’s great to pick your brain since you are so knowledgeable. Is Snaidero like Boffi in price because Boffi is too expensive? How does Bulthaup compare. I’m looking for the best quality for the best price amongst the mid to high range options. What would you suggest.

I’m looking at Miele, Thermador and Wolf appliances. Love Miele but like the look of Bertazzoni as well and it’s less expensive. I don’t mind spending the money on Miele but if Bertazzoni is comparable in quality, wouldn’t mind saving there. Thoughts?

    1. kitchenguy

      Hi again,
Boffi is one step above Snaidero, but both are excellent quality.
Bulthaup is right up there with Boffi.
It is hard for me to make suggestions, as I’m not sure where in the world you are and not every brand is available everywhere…
Miele is better than Bertazzoni – you get what you pay for… 🙂

  25. maurice

if you had to choose between scavolini and aran cucine, which would you choose and why? Are they in the same league? Thanks!

    1. kitchenguy

Maurice – Scavolini is the better of the two, both in terms of quality (not by much, but still) and also in terms of service.
Good luck. You can probably do better than both though…

  27. Lou

    Dear Kitchenguy

Torn between SieMatic, Hacker and Leicht (all German) or have seen a nice Mereway (English) Kitchen – What’s your opinion?

    1. kitchenguy

Lou – SieMatic and Haecker are very similar quality. Leicht is a step down, more in line with Mereway.
      Good luck!

  29. Igor

    Dear Kitchenguy,

I would appreciate if you could briefly compare kitchens from Gaggennau and Torchetti. Is German one simply superior or are they comparable? Thanks!

    Igor

    1. kitchenguy

Igor – Gaggenau is a German appliance producer, Torchetti is an Italian cabinet company… Hard to compare German apples and Italian oranges…
      kitchenguy

      1. Igor

        thank you, understood!

  30. frank

    Kitchenguy,
You are tough on Leicht. What is your knock against them? In france they are doing well and definitely considered high end. When I look at the quality of the Poggenpohl drawers and compare them to Leicht, Leicht appears heads and shoulders above in style and substance. On another note, are either Hacker or Nolte available in the US? I am in Philly and only have the choice of Bulthaup, Poggenpohl and Siematic, none of which have any really appealing, novel designs in my opinion. NYC is just next door… Thanks in advance for the advice.
    Frank

    1. kitchenguy

      Frank,
Don’t agree that I’m “tough on Leicht” or have a “knock against them” – I just think that some people (a couple of frequent visitors to this blog) are suspiciously over-glorifying the product. Perhaps they sell it themselves and are trying to promote the brand, but I’m sorry – I feel that Leicht is are overpriced on the higher end of their product scale and under-deliver on the lower price offerings. In addition, I find them somewhat boring, design wise.
Häcker is not available in the US and Nolte is available, but as far as I know, only in FL.
Philly is getting some new players soon – Eggersman and Pedini and also have Varenna.
      Good luck,
      kitchenguy

  31. frank

Another question. I have looked at the low end products at Poggenpohl and Val Cucine, and they appear very weak on design and quality. (Val Cucine’s regular kitchen cabinet design on the other hand is amazing-although I am very skeptical of the glass for practical reasons(e.gcleaning and scratches). Given the choice would you opt for a higher end on a “middle/upper” brand (e.g. Leicht) or a lower end cabinet of a very high end cabinet maker (Siematic or Poggenpohl)?

    1. kitchenguy

Frank – You are either getting too deep into the technical info of the cabinets and are confusing and mixing the facts… My advise: Go with what you like, based on look and price. These are all fine products.
      kitchenguy

  32. frank

    Kitchenguy,

First, thank you for your webpage. It is a unique resource for european kitchen design consumers and enthusiasts. Your knowledge and familiarity with the different brands is impressive.

As far as Pedini and Eggersman are concerned, that is fabulous news for Philly, but a little too late for me.

I understand that from a pure design and esthetic standpoint there are far more interesting brands out there than Leicht, but most often, to buy, incorporate and use the best and most original Val Cucine or Pedini, you need an extraordinary space to work with (both in light, volume and surface). The middle of the range of Pedini, Valcucine and Zeyko, for example, are not any more original than Leicht, and are about 10-20% more expensive-at least based on my limited personal experience. I imagine that 80% of consumers of contemporary European cabinetry do not have the necessary space to valorize the originality of the high end lines of the best brands. (For instance, I have a relatively large rectangular kitchen with 35 square meters, but that is still much too small to incorporate the most striking Pedini islands).

Thanks again for the advice and your rapid response! (Do you know when Pedini will be opening?)

    Frank

    1. kitchenguy

      You’re very welcome Frank.
Being that you can’t incorporate “the most striking Pedini island” doesn’t mean that you can’t use the product… These brands have many great features and design elements that are designed for smaller spaces. Example – see the walnut island from Pedini. It is designed to allow for a radius cabinetry, but in a tight space. The others have similar features.
I also think that you’ll be surprised, when you actually price these kitchens, as they are not more expensive. Obviously, a round cabinet will cost more, but ‘apple to apple’ they are similarly priced.
It looks like the Philly Pedini dealer is already selling, though the showroom will be opened later this year.
      Good luck!

  33. Indecisive

    kitchenguy,

Aiming for a minimalist, horizontal look, with few lines …either with integrated grip handles that flow from one drawer/cabinet to the next, or push-to-open handleless:

A Leicht showroom I viewed had push-to-open drawers and the large ones were difficult to push-to-open with one hand. You needed to push more than once or use two hands spread wide apart from each other so that the left and right were pushed evenly. When I inquired, I was told that wide, heavy drawers work best with electric assist. What is your feeling about using electric assist (and its associated expense)?

Also, wide lift doors (single or bi-fold) for upper cabs are attractive for the look I am aiming for. Again, how necessary/ergonomic/expensive/practical is electric assist for these?

I have considered Leicht, Warendorf, Biefbi, and am now leaning toward Zeyko (who claim to be one of the only European cabinet makers using solid wood for their carcases). I see that you like Zeyko. Should I consider something else? The designer (NYC area) I’m working with seems to be very flexible.)

As this is a huge investment/commitment for me, my goal is to end up with a kitchen that will hold up very well over time, will not look worn-out or dated anytime soon, and will not be mistaken for an Ikea kitchen. What are your feelings about lacquer vs. laminate vs. glass for durability and long-term value?

Thank you for your helpful website and for the anticipated response to my ramblings.

    Dazed and confused,
    Indecisive

    1. kitchenguy

dear Inde – wow… this is a lot to answer… 🙂 I’ll try to do my best, in a concise way:
      – The issue with the push/pull at the Leicht showroom – I’ve been accused already, for being tough on Leicht – this is exactly why… – this should not operate like this. It is an inferior mechanism, a poor installation (not square) or probably a little bit of both…
      – If you look at the right product, with the Servo-Drive mechanism from Blum (both drawers and wall cabinet flip-up doors), you’ll see the difference. On the questions of “How necassary/ergonomic/expensive/practical is electric assist for these?” only you can answer – what seems to be an ‘unneeded toy’ for one, could be a ‘life saver’ for another…
      – Zeyko is nice and so is Warendorf. Leicht is a step down from them and Biefbi is a couple of additional steps.. (down, that is)… There are many other great products out there, that have much better presence in the NYC area then these 4 brands – check out the list of My Top 20 – you may want to consider one of them…
      – Regarding the “lacquer vs. laminate vs. glass for durability and long-term value” – this is a very individual decision and only you (or your designer, who knows you) can answer.
      Good luck!

  35. Swale

How would you rate Poggenpohl v Siematic in terms of quality and value for money. I am lookign at the Beuxarts v Poggenpohl Shaker style

    1. kitchenguy

Hi – SieMatic is a better made product, but is also more expensive (apple to apple, as much as possible), so you’ve got to do your own math, in terms of value.
      Good luck,

Hi! I’m from Russia, I have my own shop selling kitchens. I would like to become a dealer for the German brand, my choice between Nobile and Nolte and Hecker. Please help in assessing value for money? Especially important is the price of the product for Pagonya meter. I would like to know how to contact these brands at the expense of dealerships. Thank you very much

    1. kitchenguy

Rtaureg – Your question is very confusing and I have a tough time answering it. Is “Nobile” Nobilia or Nobia (both are in the kitchen business…). What is Pagonya meter…? What do you mean by “how to contact these brands at the expense of dealerships”? Please be clearer.

      1. Rachel

pagonya meter is Russian for linear meter

I am hesitating between a Leicht and a Hacker Kitchen. In your opinion which of the two is the best brand?

    Marc

    1. kitchenguy

Marc – Häcker is better quality and I believe it looks better. You will also be dealing with a solid company.
      Good luck!

Sorry for my English! I am interested in becoming a dealer of one of German kitchen manufacturers such as Nobilia, Nolte, Leicht and Häcker. There are two questions: First: What is the difference in price and quality of these manufacturers? and second: Is there a significant difference in the product’s quality of these brands? Thanks.

    1. kitchenguy

No problem – I just need to understand, in order to give you the right answer.
Häcker is the best one, in my opinion, in terms of quality and value. It is also a solid brand with great support. Leicht is next and the other 2 are last, in that sense. With that said, I’m not 100% of the sales policies of these brands in your country – they pricing may be different, the advertising investment, etc. Also, there are many other questions you must ask yourself: Are you looking for a higher end product, or the lowest price? How many dealers do they already have? Do they have regular shipments? Are the other dealers too close to you? What is the brand reputation in your marketplace? Etc.
      Good luck,

Hi, currently looking at Leicht, hacker and eggersmann kitchen for our new house. Leicht is working out significantly cheaper than the other two. Is there a quality difference between them? As all of them say they are the best. Looks wise they all have pluses and minuses
        Thanks

        1. kitchenguy

Karl – there must be a good reason why it is so much cheaper… If you compare the equal product level (they offer several levels), I think that the other two are equal, in terms of quality.
          Good luck,

Would you please add Bontempi to the list of Italian Kitchen Companies? They are a fine company and have beautiful designs similar to the manufacturers already listed.

    Thank you

    1. kitchenguy

Scott – it has always been listed…

    Hi,
I am having trouble finding a dealer in Ohio, do you know of any?
    thanks

      1. craig

Sorry a dealer/supplier/contractor that works with european kitchen companys. I have found one that deals with siematic and one with berloni. I love siematic but it is a little over our price range. Do you know anything about Berloni? or anything else in Ohio? not much choice around here.
        Thanks Craig

        1. kitchenguy

Hi Craig – okay, wasn’t sure if it was a specific brand you’re looking for… Yes, Ohio doesn’t offer much selection, when it comes to European cabinets. I think you’ve located the two that are already there and from what I heard, Pedini is coming to a showroom near you very soon…
Berloni is a very large company, that like most of the larger brands, are now experiencing difficulties – I was just driving by one of their factories, a month ago and the building is deserted… The product is kind of basic (not very excited) and the price is accordingly. If you’re just looking for European cabinets to fill a space, it could work.
          Good luck,
          kitchenguy

After 6 months of kitchen shopping for a new build contemporary home, we now can’t decide between Siematic and Nolte…which one would you install(Siematic €5000 more expensive) Thanks from Ireland

    1. kitchenguy

Sabrina – that’s a tough one, especially since I don’t know the total cost of the kitchen and so €5000 could mean 10%, or 30%…
SieMatic should be approx 20%-25% higher – am I in the ballpark…?

I am planing to purchase from Stosa , which unfortunately is not in ur top 20 list…so how is the quality of this company..and can u comment something on the Replay / Osaka cucine from Stosa.

    1. kitchenguy

      Hi Ash,
Stosa is a large company, focused on a ‘price point’ product, rather than design or high quality. With that said, you must evaluate your wish list (what is it that you want out of this new kitchen), against your budget and decide if this is a good value for you. Both models you’re looking at are simple modern doors and if this is the look you’re going for, I see nothing wrong with both.
      Good luck,

    Hi Kitchen Guy,

We are in the Middle East and wish to have an Italian or Spanish brand of kitchen to sell in an extremely competitive market. Which are the very reasonably price (modern) brands with reliable quality? Thanks in advance.

  44. Radha

    Hi Kitchen Guy,

We are in the Middle East and would like to know if you can recommend any reasonably priced modern kitchen brand from Italy or Spain that can be sold in an extremely competitive market? Many Thanks in advance!

  45. Sandra

    Hi Kitchen Guy,

I am torn between Alno and Poggenpohl, what are your thoughts on those companies.

    Thanks

    1. kitchenguy

Sandra – Poggenpohl will be my choice.
      Good luck,
      kitchenguy

      1. Sandra

        Hi Kitchen Guy,

why do you prefer Poggenpohl, better quality? There is not a big price difference in the estimates.

        Thanks,
        Sandra

        1. kitchenguy

Sandra – Poggenpohl is a better product (quality), a better company (service) and better looking (design).
That’s all that I need from a kitchen!
          Good luck!

  46. May

    Hello,

I’m waivering between Poggenpohl with their laminate finish and Poliform with a matt glass finish. Poliform has come in $5,000. lower but I am uncertain of the quality and installation. Poggenpohl has a great history, reputation and I have not heard any feedback on Poliform. Can you tell me your thoughts on Poliform?

    1. kitchenguy

May – if I understand you correctly and Poliform’s matte glass finish is $5,000 below Poggenpohl’s laminate, than it will be my choice. They are both very large companies that are producing a good product. Poggenpohl is more well known because they have been around longer. Poliform is actually an closet/furniture company, that has purchased a kitchen brand, Varenna and added it to their offerings. Where in the US are you located?
      Good luck,
      kitchenguy

KG – I’m in Boston. How do I find a directory of european kitchen providers? I really want to stay with a local supplier…
if you have a list could you share?
    Thanks in advance.

    1. kitchenguy

Not sure of a directory, but I was able to Google these 3 brands and you have a Bulthaup showroom on 200 Boylston Street and a Pedini showroom on 1069 Washington Street, in Newton.
      Good luck!

  48. Tom

Thanks for the outstanding blog. Best resource for European kitchen brands I’ve found online by far.

What do you think of the quality and durability of Scavolini’s lower-priced lines? The mid-range looked/felt really good to us in their store, but I thought I’d ask.

We’re in NYC and need to work with a company with a local presence so some of your top 20 brands aren’t an option for us.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

    1. kitchenguy

Tom – thanks for the kind words. Glad you like the blog!
Regarding your kitchen – Scavolini’s lower price lines are just that – focused on the lower price and the quality is low too… You’re better off with the other brands, that all now offer a lower price point (world recession models :)) – try Bulthaup b1, or Pedini’s Magika or any of the other brands available in NYC.
      Good luck,
      kitchenguy

  49. Herbert

    Hi, Kitchenguy

Is BEFAS (Danish kitchen brand) still in the market?

    1. kitchenguy

Herbert – the only BEFAS I’m aware of is a large wholesaler of kitchens and appliances and they are located in Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg).
